Release: Game update [v118] [Complete]

Hi everyone,

Patch v118 will be released today at 12:00 UTC. Once the update has started the servers will be offline for around 30-45 minutes. We’ll update this thread as soon as the patch is ready and the servers are back online.

Update: this has now been completed, the game servers should be back online.

Features and changes

  • Newbie protected zone: improvements to guard fleet behaviour. Guard fleets will no longer indefinitely pursue an enemy fleet that enters and then leaves the newbie protected zone. When the guard fleet reaches a max distance outside the newbie protected zone it will cancel its interception and return. The max distance it can travel is about the same size as the diameter of the newbie protected zone.

Bugs fixed

  • Switching from one galaxy to another via the lobby without restarting the game client caused some info to be wrongly displayed. This was due to a caching issue following a recent client-side optimization. It was a client-side visual bug only – the game servers weren’t affected.
    • For example, science point costs from ‘Main 2’ would also be displayed when playing ‘Awaken the Dark’ if you first went to ‘Main 2’ and then ‘Awaken the Dark’ via the lobby (some tech has a different cost in each galaxy).
    • It’s also why Akorokken colonies sometimes displayed 240/hr science power and sometimes 60/hr. In all galaxies except ‘Awaken the Dark’ they contribute science power of 4 (equivalent to 240/hr science points in the new version of technology research). But in ‘Awaken the Dark’ they were dialled down to contribute only 1 science point (60/hr).

Updating the game client: the game should be automatically updated via Steam. Please check here if the download doesn’t automatically start when you launch Steam.
